Issue Position

As a small business owner, Mary Alice understands the struggles with today's health care costs. She will fight for the expansion of Medicaid in Tennessee so that more rural hospitals are not forced to close their doors, as 10 have done already.

She is aware that five of the six counties in Senate District 17 -- Cannon, Clay, DeKalb, Macon, Smith, and Wilson -- are entirely rural. If one of the hospitals in these counties were to close, the devastating impact would not only be the health care of its citizens but on the county's economy.

As your next State Senator, Mary Alice wants to bring common sense to the General Assembly. She cites the Republicans' decision to not expand Medicaid as just one example of how they failed to apply common sense and have ultimately hurt working families in District 17 and Tennessee.
